Ireland defeated Scotland in the AIB Club International in a very entertaining match played at Donnybrook tonight ,Our own John Ed O Connor was voted Man of the Match and he had a tremendous game, Quote of the night as regards John Ed’s play was “He is one hell of a tough Nut “ in a complimentary fashion from a commentator. A great honour for John Ed to represent his Country Ireland, his Club Ul Bohemians and his native Cashel in Co.Tipperary.Let’s hope it will be the first of many more to come. Ireland were not fancied to do well against a Scotland team tonight who have already two games played and one was a trouncing of Wales, they also had fringe/Academy players playing who were verging on the Scotland Senior Squad .
In the opening half Ireland conceded several penalties but still led by 11 -8 at the interval. Strangely Scotland were the one’s in the second half who conceded the penalties,. Brendan Keeshan (Dolphin) scored 15 points from the boot on the night; it was a tense last 5 minutes though as Scotland applied the pressure and went over for a try, which left one score in it .A stray pass in the dying minutes denied the Scots a draw or a possible win. A fantastic win for Ireland as John Ed said later it would great if we could get the other nations involved as like a 6 Nations.
